(Virtual) Cultural Heritage Week 2022 is set for
​January 24th-28th

The Merion HSA is pleased to present another virtual Cultural Heritage Week to replace our annual tradition of Cultural Heritage Night. Each day of the week, through videos created by our own Merion families, we will transport you around the globe. Students can document their travels in a passport as they learn about the tastes, sounds, and arts of the many cultures represented in our school community.  Students who complete their passport will be entered to win a special prize!
 
Kids absolutely love sharing their own heritage with peers, so we are encouraging families to register to represent a culture with a short video (no longer than three minutes). Some video ideas are listed below, but you are free to be as creative as you like!

  • Create a table display like what you would see at the traditional Cultural Heritage Night.  Display textiles & traditional garb, holiday items, sports equipment, artwork, photography, tools, musical instruments, or a social etiquette guide.  A parent or student can give brief descriptions of the items.
  • Design a poster highlighting interesting facts about a country or culture.
  • Film a dinner table showcasing popular foods of a particular culture.
  • Performance art! Sing, dance, do impersonations, sports demonstrations, etc.
