More Than Just A New Building: A Refresh of the 5-8th Grade Experience Across The District
Tuesday March 10th 9:30-11:30 am Academy Building (adjacent to the Bala Cynwyd Middle School)
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Scott Eveslage will meet to discuss and provide an update on the District's 5-8 Committee. A committee has been established to rethink the program we offer for students in grades 5-8. This goes beyond the new middle school - the committee is looking at various aspects of our program through the lens of the strategic plan and asking these essential
questions: How can we reimagine our 5-8 program? And what could the 5-8 experience be for our students?
This general meeting is open to all parents/guardians in the Lower Merion School District.

News From the Nurses Office
Out grown clothes needed by Nurses
Periodically the school nurses put out a request of the Merion community for clothes that your children have outgrown. We have run out of most of our supply of clothes in the Nurse's Office for when students need a change at school. We have socks and underwear. We need long pants, sweats, leggings, shorts in all sizes and all genders. Tops are always good but not as critical right now. Thank you in advance!
We are in our second month of high incidence of cold and flu, according to the CDC. Even with new developments, the best ways to prevent illness remain simple: wash hands often; get a flu vaccine; don't touch your eyes, nose, mouth; stay home when sick, eat nutritious food and get plenty of rest. Even with all these prevention tactics in play, some of us will get sick.
Tips on preventing and actions for the Flu.
When to keep your Child at Home:
If your student is sick please keep them at home. It is challenging with everyone's busy schedules but it helps decrease the spread of illnesses.
More LMSD info on sick policies
It is important to maintain a healthy environment in the classroom to protect all students. The following symptoms may indicate contagious illness. Your child should be kept at home if any of these occur:
Got old cell phones lying around?
Merion Community Service is collecting old cell phones to raise funds for Laurel House, a domestic violence agency in Montgomery County. Phones can be dropped off in the Merion lobby during the month of March. And yes, we can take broken phones! Clean out those drawers! Any questions, contact Carolyn Vachani at firstname.lastname@example.org.
