(Virtual) Cultural Heritage Night 2021 is set for
January 25th-29th

Please join us on Thursday October 24, 2019 at 6:00pm for Cultural Heritage Night (CHN) at Merion.  Our hallways will transport you around the globe to stamp your Passport at 40+ stations where you may sample the tastes, sounds, and arts of the many cultures represented in our school community.  The event culminates with a Costume Parade and a fantastic variety of performances on stage.

CHN is free, but please bring a canned food donation for the Narberth Community Food Bank.

Kids absolutely love this event and greatly enjoy sharing their own heritage with peers, or helping present a new culture they are curious about.  You may like to participate by contributing to a “culture table” at CHN.  Here are some of the many ways our Merion families have volunteered in the past:
  • Share an item for display at a table:  textiles & traditional garb, holiday items, sports equipment, artwork, photography, tools, musical instruments, a list of common idioms/expressions, or a social etiquette guide.
  • Design a poster.
  • Help attendees make a small craft.  Kids made windmills at the Netherlands table, colored Book of Kells pages at Ireland, and folded origami at Japan.
  • Create a game.  China’s table invented a chopsticks game.
  • Make a favorite food to share.
  • Kids can step on stage at the Costume Parade.  We have seen song, dance, impersonations, sports demonstrations, and simple unrehearsed interviews with our kind host.
