Halloween Helpers, a local non-profit, is collecting clean, gently used costumes from Oct 4-13. Infant through adult sizes welcomed. Please bag and label each costume with gender, size and type. Donations collected in the Main Office at Merion. To learn more click here.

This family fun day on Oct 3 from 10 am - 3 pm at Cynwyd Elementary School features arts and crafts, prizes, a kids' cupcake baking competition for kids 5 to 14 years old, bounces, face painting, food, and 5,000 cupcakes from Philadelphia's finest bakeries.
This event benefits the Calliope Joy Foundation and The Leukodystrophy Center of Excellence at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Chess club with the Shining Knights will run every Monday morning starting at 8 am in the Merion Elementary School Library. The 8-week program runs from October 5 - November 23 and costs $104 per student. Open to students in grades 2-5. Register at www.shiningknightschess.com.
On Oct 7 (rain date Oct 8) at 8:45 am, students will learn fun but safe ways to walk to school on Rockland Ave. field with the help of representatives from Montgomery County Health Dept. Also on that day, we'll kick off the Merion Mileage Club, our before-school walking club for Gr 1-5.
Look for the evite to this fun informational meeting on Oct 6 at 7 PM at McShea's in Narberth. It's a great opportunity to get to know other 5th grade parents, find out what's ahead this year, and how you can help.

Come to monthly meetings this fall to learn about masterpieces from all eras, and then share them with the students in fun, fresh ways in December. Absolutely NO prior knowledge necessary! On Sept 30, wear mismatched clothing or shoes to raise awareness of children with prosthetic limbs and bring in donations to help raise money for these children. Also, students in grades 3-5 will participate in an assembly to learn more about this issue.
3-5 students should bring an extra sneaker to school for the assembly… k-2 wear mismatched socks, tops and bottoms.
