Cultural Heritage Night Invites All to Participate
We invite everyone to come celebrate their family's cultural heritage with the Merion Community. Within each country, there are often-times more than one ethnic group, and therefore more than one culture. Participants can choose to represent their country, their ethnic group, or both. If you'd like to represent your country, or ethnic group, please contact us about reserving a table at Merion Cultural Heritage Night. Email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or register to participate here. The Cultural Heritage Night Informational Meeting for participants will take place on Thursday, Oct 12 at 7pm at Merion in the auditorium.
Cultural Heritage Night 2017 is set for Thursday, October 26, 6-8:15pm. This event is free, but please bring a canned food donation for the Narberth Community Food Bank.

Meet the Merion Human Relations Committee
Did you know? Merion has a Human Relations Committee consisting
of parent representatives from each grade, teachers and staff. The Committee meets monthly to discuss "big picture" issues that are of concern to Merion parents. "Big Picture" issues include concerns relating to our school environment, safety, recess challenges or other topics that do not relate to individual students. If you have any ideas or concerns that you would like to have discussed at a Human Relations meeting, please express them to your grade level representative and your concerns will remain anonymous. You will receive feedback, addressing your issue, directly from your representative.
Art Goes to School
AGTS is looking for parent volunteers like you! Help our children discover, explore and understand art. No prior art or teaching experience is needed, just enthusiasm!
Our first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct 18 at 10 am at the Bala Cynwyd Library.

Cradles to Crayons
Merion Elementary is a year-round collection site for Cradles to Crayons! C2C collects clothing for children ages 0-12, books, toys and more!
Halloween Costume Drive
Merion Elementary is collecting complete, clean, gently used costumes in infant through adult sizes to benefit Halloween Helpers. Please drop off donations, bagged and labeled with gender/size/theme, in the front office by Friday, Oct 13.
Napkin Collection for the PA School for the Deaf
Do you have varied and leftover paper napkins in your house from different events? These can be put to fabulous use helping young preschoolers with hearing loss develop their communication skills.
Merion Elementary will be collecting virtually any napkin that could be described in some way. Partial packs and random assortments are more than welcome but please, no religious holiday napkins (Christmas, Chanukah, Halloween, etc.)
Used with students who have delayed language and are either learning Sign Language or spoken English or both, the napkins will teach the children how to ask and answer questions fully during their snack or meal times. The kids love being the server and also deciding which napkin they will use, so it's really a fabulous hands on learning opportunity where the kids are very motivated.
A box for collection will be placed on the bench by the windows next to the HSA table.
Fifth Grade Class Dues - Final Reminder
Dear Fifth Grade Parents,
This is an extra special year for our kids where they broaden their experiences and prepare to leave elementary school. Some of the fun activities and events for this year include Diamond Ridge Field Trip (team building), Fifth Grade Play, End of the Year Picnic, and yearbooks.
To offset the cost of these events, we are asking for dues in the amount of $90. By Oct 13, please either send a check payable to the Merion HSA in a sealed envelope with a memo line of "5th Grade Dues" or submit payment via PayPal. If the fees present a hardship to any families, please contact Ms. Heffron for assistance.
For every Amazon purchase you make, Amazon gives back to Merion.
