Nominations for ISC Board Positions Close on May 1
Join the The Interschool Council (ISC), the umbrella organization for all 10 LMSD Home & School Associations (HSA).
Pro Tip: The younger your students are now, the longer you will benefit from being involved!!
Have you enjoyed going to the ISC Art Show at Main Line Art Center over the years? The ISC organizes that. Ever wonder how your child's teacher has a Lego wall, flexible seating, an aquarium, fidget toys, a garden that attracts Monarch Butterflies, DNA discovery models with magnets to help accurately visualize DNA molecules or a hydroponic garden? All of these innovative ideas were funded by the ISC Mini Grant Program.
And YOU can be a part of making your child's years in the Lower Merion School District more rewarding, and fulfilling for YOURSELF! Help plan parent/guardian programming, attend School Board meetings that are of interest to you (Curriculum, Facilities, etc), collaborate with administration. Come be an integral part of a warm and happy-to-have-you group of volunteers!
Executive Committee roles available (including Co-President, Treasurer, Mini Grant Co-Chair, At-Large Members) for the 2019-2020 school year.
Please contact current Co-Presidents, Andrea Fox (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Sarah Altman (email@example.com) to learn more. And we encourage you to visit the ISC page on the LMSD website. https://www.lmsd.org/community/parents/isc
How to Talk to Kids about Disability
When - Monday, April 29, 7 pm
Where - Penn Valley Elementary School Library, 301 Righters Mill Road
Let's end the awkwardness.....
How should we handle our children's in-public questions and staring?
What can we do to be welcoming to our children's neuro-diverse peers? What are our children watching on YouTube and seeing on social media about disability, and how can we foster thoughtful discussions with them?
This empowering workshop will give parents, caregivers and educators respectful vocabulary and teaching strategies to facilitate positive discussions about disability with children.
Sponsored by the LM Committee for Special Education.

When - Saturday, June 1, 10 am-3pm
Where - Penn Wynne Elementary School, 250 Haverford Road
Come to the stand that started it all! Join Alex's family, friends and community as we honor the tradition of her annual lemonade stand. Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand is an uplifting, fun-filled, family-friendly day complete with food, games, crafts, face-painting, music, raffles and (of course) lemonade at the school Alex attended. Everyone also gathers for a beautiful butterfly release to commemorate and celebrate the lives of all children affected by cancer.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a national fundraising movement that began from the front yard lemonade stand of Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004) who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to fund cures. The Foundation has now raised more than $150 million, funding nearly 1,000 research projects.
Alex's All Access Passes are available for $25 which includes a limited edition Alex's "Original" t-shirt and covers donations for all activities, food and lemonade.
Are you a family of four or more? Family Packages are a great deal and start at just $100 which includes t-shirts, raffle tickets, merchandise and more. Visit AlexsLemonade.org/AlexsOriginal for details on additional ways to get involved or email Danni D'Angio at D.Dangio@AlexsLemonade.org.
